Turkey’s passenger car sales up 17.3 percent in Q1

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive distributor Association (ODD), in the first quarter of this year the domestic passenger car market increased by 17.3 percent compared to the same period last year, with sales increasing to 114,434 units. In March, domestic sales of passenger car totaled 51,785 units, up 9.55 percent compared to March 2012.

In the first quarter, sales of light commercial vehicles declined by 0.1 percent compared to the first quarter of last year, falling to 38,170 units. In March, sales of light commercial vehicles totaled 16,989 units, falling 3.55 percent year on year.

The ODD has forecast that total sales in the Turkish automotive sector in 2013 will amount to 790,000-840,000 units.
