Turkey's motor vehicle output down eight percent in H1

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in June this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 113,845 units, decreasing by 12 percent year on year and up by 9.1 percent from May.
 
In June, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 45,814 units - down 22 percent, its commercial vehicle production amounted to 49,537 units - down two percent, while tractor production amounted to 4,654 units - remaining unchanged, all compared to June 2011.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in June was 73 percent, down from 76 percent recorded in May. In the first six months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 72 percent.
 
Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 591,259 units, down eight percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 283,425 units decreasing by 16 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 281,291 units, down two percent compared to the corresponding half of 2011.
