Downtrend continues in Turkey's April motor vehicle output

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in April this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 92,695 units, decreasing by 15 percent year on year and down by 13.45 percent from the month of March.

In April, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 44,384 units - down 18 percent, its commercial vehicle production amounted to 43,877 units - down 12 percent, while tractor production amounted to 4,434 units - down three percent, all compared to April 2011.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in April was 68 percent, sharply down from 78 percent recorded in March.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 386,906 units, down eight percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 186,376 units decreasing by 16 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 183,126 units, down one percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
