According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in August this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 37,505 units, decreasing by 29 percent year on year and down 61.4 percent compared to July this year.
In August, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 19,932 units - down 24 percent, its commercial vehicle production amounted to 16,880 units - down 31 percent, while tractor production amounted to 693 units - down 66 percent, all compared to August 2011.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in August was 27 percent, down from 71 percent recorded in July this year. In the first eight months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 66 percent.
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 725,951 units, down 10 percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 343,728 units decreasing by 18 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 350,629 units, down three percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
