Turkey's motor vehicle output down 3.7 percent in February

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in February this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 98,980 units, decreasing by 3.7 percent year on year and up by 17.3 percent over the month of January.

In February, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 49,609 units - down nine percent, its commercial vehicle production reached 44,940 units - remaining unchanged, while tractor production amounted to 4,431 units - up 39 percent, all compared to February 2011.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in February was 73 percent, up from 65 percent recorded in January.

Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 187,133 units, down four percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 91,129 units decreasing by 14 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 87,786 units, up three percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
