According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in March this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 107,098 units, decreasing by eight percent year on year and up by 8.2 percent over the month of February.
In March, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 50,861 units - down 19 percent, its commercial vehicle production reached 51,463 units - up 2 percent, while tractor production amounted to 4,774 units - up 34 percent, all compared to March 2011.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in March was 78 percent, up from 73 percent recorded in February.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 294,211 units, down six percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 141,990 units decreasing by 16 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 139,249 units, up three percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
