The leading Japanese EAF steel producer Tokyo Steel increased its domestic scrap procurement prices, announcing a rise of JPY 1,000/mt.
Tokyo Steel’s general range for H2 grade scrap price has moved up by JPY 1,000/mt to the range of JPY 40,000-43,000/mt ($269-289/mt) depending on the mill. The dollar-based quotations have increased by $9/mt as compared to February 21 due to the appreciation of the Japanese yen against the US dollar.
Shindachi scrap prices of Tokyo Steel have also moved up by JPY 1,000 to JPY 41,500-44,000/mt ($279-296/mt) delivered, up by $9/mt. The prices shared in the table below will come into effect by March 22.
