Local Turkish scrap market continues its upward trend

The sharp increase in Turkey’s import scrap market is pushing domestic scrap quotations up also. Producers have announced increases of TRY 125-650/mt or $2-19/mt in their scrap purchase prices over the past two weeks. The depreciation of the Turkish lira is also forcing Turkish mills to raise their TRY-based purchase prices.

While the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up from TRY 9,800-11,000/mt to TRY 10,300-11,450/mt, dollar-based quotations have increased from $342-384/mt to $356-396/mt.
