In a letter to customers this week, Nucor Bar Mill Group announced that effective immediately, transaction prices for merchant bar and structurals will decrease by $50/nt ($2.50 cwt. or $55/mt).

The company explained the move as a way to “better align our published price list with market transaction pricing which has strongly been influenced by imports from Mexico, Turkey and Taiwan, resulting in unpublished discounts by our domestic competitors.”

Other US domestic mills are expected to follow suit.
