Domestic longs prices in Algeria have decreased compared to mid-January by a significant amount, following the general downtrend seen globally and also due to low demand in the country.

According to sources, local producer Tosyali Algerie has dropped its domestic rebar prices by $82/mt (DZD 12,500/mt) to $568/mt (DZD 90,000/mt) ex-works for February-March production. The supplier’s wire rod offers are now set at $663/mt (DZD 105,000/mt) ex-works, down $66/mt (DZD 10,000/mt) over the past three weeks, SteelOrbis has learned. Some market players say that the downward revisions are also the result of local mills seeking to prevent active imports to the country.

Prices in the local currency include 19 percent VAT.
