Chinese domestic steel section prices have shown slight fluctuations over the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market fluctuated slightly, showing a mild downward trend over the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 3,040/mt ($424/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 3,060/mt ($426/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,140/mt ($437/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Over the past week, overall trading activity remained at a normal level. Upstream billet prices also fluctuated within a narrow range, providing continued support for steel section prices. Both supply and demand recently remained stable. Looking ahead, with potential cost-side support still in place, steel section prices are expected to continue fluctuating within a small margin.
