Following last week’s downward trend, the Turkish flat steel market remained relatively quiet this week, partly due to the holiday at the beginning of the week. Market activity slowed further, and despite weak demand, most traders chose to maintain their price levels from the previous week. However, financial strain among smaller and mid-sized traders has led some to offer discounts of around $10/mt, bringing their prices close to mill levels to attract serious buyers.
“Markets remained quiet with slower demand. Prices held steady overall, but sellers under financial pressure offered significant discounts, lowering their prices to near mill price levels to stimulate sales,” a trader told SteelOrbis.
This week's workable prices are at $560-590/mt ex-warehouse, with the bigger traders reported to be offering at about $590/mt ex-warehouse, while medium-sized and smaller traders are offering at roughly $560-570/mt ex-warehouse.
Meanwhile, in the cold rolled sheet segment, most sellers have decided to keep offers stable at $670-725/mt ex-warehouse compared to the previous week.
