Romanian flat steel spot prices have remained stable over the past week, as market conditions have showed little to no movement. Despite a brief uptick in activity the previous week, demand continues to be limited. Meanwhile, Romania’s sole flat steel producer has yet to announce a definitive date for the restart of its production. However, sources report that the company has already moved to initiate its production processes and has received the necessary raw materials. As a result, most market players are now waiting to see when operations will officially resume, with resumption expected sometime in the coming month. Market attention is also focused on how the mill’s return, after nearly a year of absence, will impact the overall market.
In the spot market, domestic hot rolled sheet (HRS) prices are currently quoted at €715-735/mt ex-warehouse, unchanged from last week. Likewise, cold rolled sheet (CRS) offers remain stable at approximately €820-840/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, the import market has seen minimal interest this week, with no new purchases made by Romanian buyers. Offers for HRS and CRS from Ukraine have declined by €20/mt from the previous week, to €620-640/mt DAP and €710-730/mt DAP, respectively. Similarly, Turkish HRC offers have edged down slightly, with FOB prices at around $540-550/mt. Including freight costs of about €25/mt, the delivered price to Romania stands at approximately €500-510/mt CFR, down from €500-520/mt CFR last week.
