Pakistani producers of cold rolled (CR) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coils have issued new offer prices for their domestic market, effective from July 30.
Accordingly, local prices of CR and HDG coils have increased by PKR 5,000/mt ($31/mt) compared to the previous offers, however due to the devaluation of the Pakistani rupee, the dollar-based quotations have risen only by $9-12/mt, depending on the product.
Overall, during the current week business trade in Pakistan has been low, with both sellers and buyers gradually returning to the market after a week-long holiday. The same situation has been seen in the import HRC segment. By the end of the given period, information about negotiations between a Japan-based HRC supplier and a Pakistani reroller has leaked to the market, but no results yielded so far. A contract for HRC is allegedly to be signed at around $1,060/mt CFR, while prior ex-Japan HRC was booked to Pakistan at $1,070/mt CFR Karachi in the middle of July.
