Waelz Sustainable Products LLC” (WSP), a joint venture between Heritage Environmental Services LLC and Zinc Nacional, has recently announced in a press release the building of a state-of-the-art Waelz Kiln in the Midwest US.

The process provides an alternative outlet option to the steel industry for zinc reclamation. Waelz Kiln technology reclaims zinc oxide from recycled steel dust, a byproduct of the electric arc furnaces operated in steel mills. Zinc is also used in the galvanizing process on steel products.

Three Midwest states have been selected for the WSP plant and negotiations are in the final stages. It is projected that the facility will break ground in late 2018 and commissioned during the first half of 2020.
