Zhanjiang Port inaugurates new iron ore dock

A RMB 750 million ($90.6 million) investment and nearly three years of construction culminated in Zhanjiang Port Group's inauguration of its 200'000-ton capacity iron ore dock on July 17. The new dock is expected to reduce the logistics costs of steel enterprises in Southwest, South and Middle China by a sizeable amount, which in turn should spur economic development in the regions. Other expansion projects currently underway at Zhanjiang Port should see its overall handling capacity reach 80 million tons per annum by 2010.
