Year 2003 satisfies Corus

Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus has announced that 2003 was a quite remarkable year in Wales and company obtained a major and successful turnaround. The workers at Port Talbot and Llanwern plants in South Wales achieved sixty production targets in 2003 whereas in 2002 they only achieved two or three. The production reached a record level of 3.7 million tons at Port Talbot plant following the reopening of No. 5 blast furnace at the beginning of 2003. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, Corus has announced a £71 million investment program for Port Talbot in November 2003 and now it is planning to invest a further £50 million in Port Talbot and Llanwern in 2004.
