On September 17, a cargo ship loaded with iron ore concentrate produced by a joint project of Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel (WISCO) and Canada-based miner Consolidated Thompson (CLM) finally arrived at WISCO's industrial harbor No.1 dock in China.

This cargo of iron ore in question, totaling 165,200 mt of 66.5 percent grade and produced by the Bloom Lake iron mine project in Canada, is the first shipment of iron ore from the mine in question to be received by WISCO in China. On July 27, the ship had set out from the Canadian port of Sept Iles, Quebec.

The Bloom Lake iron ore project is WISCO's first iron ore mining investment overseas. Last year WISCO invested US$240 million to become the largest shareholder of CLM, obtaining a 25 percent stake in the Bloom Lake project.
