Voestalpine to modernize EAF of Cascade

According to recent news in the market, Austrian Voestalpine AG has signed a contract to revamp electric arc furnace (EAF) of Cascade Steel Rolling Mills, a producer of merchant bars, bar and rod. With the new project, two-bucket charge will be utilized while loading scrap rather than the current three-bucket charging procedure. Voestalpine will benefit from VAI Fuchs, a subsidiary of Voestalpine AG, to increase the production of EAF. In line with the contract, Voestalpine AG will provide engineering, equipment procurement and advisory site services, in return for these Cascade Steel Rolling Mills will conduct construction works. The new project is expected to be completed by June 2004.
