Vancouver port set for first scrap metal export

Canada's Port of Vancouver is getting ready for its first shipment of scrap metal via breakbulk vessel destined for Korea. The shipment of 24'000 metric tons of ferrous scrap steel is to be loaded onto the bulk carrier and leave for Korea early next week. This is a new export commodity for port tenant Pacific Coast Shredding LLC, which expects ths shipment of ferrous scrap to be the first of many more shipments to Asia. The ferrous scrap shipment will be transported by International Maritime Carriers Ltd. (IMC). The company has previously shipped both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap in containers, however this is the first shipment by IMC to use breakbulk vessels to transport the material.
