Upsurge in arrivals of Chinese steel at Antwerp Port

The accelerator has been stepped on as far as arrivals of Chinese steel products at the Belgian port of Antwerp are concerned.

Commercial advisor of Antwerp Port Authority, Joeri Tielemans has announced that in January 2007 the inflow of steel goods from China at Antwerp totaled 230,000 metric tons. This figure represents an increase of 44 percent compared to December 2006.

The port of Antwerp handled 167,372,296 tons of cargo in 2006, of which nearly 92 million tons were imports.
