According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in May this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 125,530 metric tons, declining by 10.92 percent month on month, following a six month-high export volume recorded in April and up 93.69 percent over May 2009.
Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $81.77 million, decreasing by 4.77 percent compared to the previous month and up 183.81 percent year on year.

In May, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $651/mt, up $42/mt or 6.9 percent from April levels and indicating an increase of $207/mt or 46.53 percent compared to May 2009.
Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2010, Turkey's wire rod exports surged by 31 percent, amounting to 520,390 metric tons, while the revenue of these exports totaled $299.3 million, up 66.63 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
