According to the provisional data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, in August this year the capacity utilization rate in the Turkish basic metal manufacturing industry was 78.2 percent, increasing by 3.8 percentage points compared to August 2010 and remaining unchanged compared to July this year. The July level was the first month-on-month fall in the capacity utilization rate in four months.
Meanwhile, in August the capacity utilization rate in the manufacture of metal products, except machinery and equipment, rose by 5.9 percentage points year on year reaching 72.7 percent - up from 72 percent recorded in July this year.
Capacity utilization rate in Turkey's general manufacturing industry, on the other hand, came to 76.1 percent, up from 75.4 percent in July this year and up from 73 percent in August 2010.
