Turkey’s longitudinally welded tube and profile exports rise in March

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's longitudinally welded tube and profile exports totaled 60,165 mt, up for the consecutive second month on month-on-month basis, increasing 49.5 percent compared to the previous month and up 14 percent compared to March 2012.


 
In March, the increase in the country's longitudinally welded tube and profile exports was mainly due to the 21,900 mt of exports to the US, almost quadruple compared to the previous month and up 35.9 percent on year-on-year basis. Turkey's longitudinally welded tube and profile exports to the EU increased for the third month in a row in March on month-on-month basis, to 24,987 mt, rising 17.8 percent month on month and up 17.5 percent compared to March 2012.

In the first quarter of the year, Turkish total longitudindally welded tube and profile exports amounted to 131,587 mt, down one percent compared to the same period of 2012 and regressing to the Q3 2012 level, after rising in the previous quarter to the highest level recorded since Q4 2006. In the first three months, Turkey's largest export destination for the product in question was the US with 27,814 mt, though the figure was down 17.6 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In the first quarter this year, Turkey's longitudindally welded tube and profile exports to Iraq amounted to 18,861 mt, falling from the previous quarter, after three quarters of quarter-on-quarter increase.

On the other hand, in March this year Turkey's spirally welded pipe exports totaled 8,848 mt, rising 6.1 percent compared to the previous month but maintaining a low level trend following the high levels of export recorded in the last two months of 2012. The country's spirally welded pipe exports fell 5.7 percent in March compared to the same month of 2012.


 
Meanwhile, in March this year Turkey's total angle, shape and section exports amounted to 145,179 mt, rising 8.6 percent compared to the previous month, increasing for the second consecutive months on month-on-month basis, and were down 4.2 percent compared to March 2012.
