Trade between China, ASEAN increases

The trade volume between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China reached $27.5 billion in the first quarter of 2005, up 25% compared to the same period last year. Thus, ASEAN countries have become China's fourth largest trading partner. In 2004, trade volume between China and ASEAN rose 35% year on year to $105.9 billion. Meanwhile, Chinese President Hu Jintao predicts that China's trade with the ASEAN countries will almost double from last year's $105.9 billion to $200 billion by 2010.
