Thailand approves duty-free imports of special hot rolled steel

According to the recent industry reports, Thailand's local hot rolled steel producer Sahaviriya Steel industries (SSI) and the Japanese based cold rolling mills Siam United Steel (SUS) and Thai Cold Rolled Steel Sheet (TCR) have reached a preliminary agreement for the imports of special hot rolled steel sheets into Thailand without being subject to the anti-dumping duty implemented in May. It is now for the Thai Department of Foreign Trade to clarify the details of the situation. It is understood that the agreement calls for the cold rolling mills to cease hot rolled steel imports in five years, by when the Thai hot rolled producers will be capable of producing these special HR sheets for the automobile and home appliance manufacturers.
