Tangshan Steel aims 30 million mt

China's second largest steelmaker, Hebei province based Tangshan Iron & Steel Group (Tangshan Steel) is planning to increase its capacity to 30 million metric tons per annum in the next five years according to Wang Tianyi, the Chairman of the company. Speaking at the 4th International Steel Congress held in Beijing, Mr. Wang also stated that the current capacity of the group was 20 million metric tons. The company is planning to expand the capacity through mergers with smaller mills. Tangshan Steel merged with Xuanhua Iron & Steel Group and Chengde Iron & Steel Group last year and increased its capacity 60 percent.
