Stimulus spending by Department of Transit reaches $11 billion mark

According to a May 4 report by the Journal of Commerce, stimulus project spending by the Department of Transit (DOT) has exceeded $11 billion.    Projections and allocations indicate the DOT will spend approximately $48 billion on various infrastructure projects related to bridge projects, highway projects, commercial and passenger railroad improvements, upgrades to ports, and to improve public transit systems.

As of April 23, stimulus disbursements have totaled $222 billion, not including $100 billion in tax cuts which have already taken affect.
