Steel service center shipments in May increase in US, decline in Canada

According to report from the Metals Service Center Institute, US service center steel shipments in May 2014 increased by 2.6 percent from May 2013. Steel product inventories increased 4.9 percent from May a year ago. At the current shipping rate, this represents 2.2 months of supply in inventory.
 
Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products in May 2014 decreased by 1.0 percent from May 2013. Steel product inventories decreased 9.0 percent from May a year ago. At the current shipping rate, this represents 2.7 months of supply in inventory.
