Carlos D'Oliveira, president of Venezuelan steel manufacturer Siderugica del Orinoco (Sidor), announced Tuesday that recovery of the Guri dam from which Venezuela generates most of its electricity has prompted the company to double its production estimates to 4.3 million mt in 2011.

D'Oliveira also commented that 100 percent of Sidor's production will be aimed at satisfying its domestic market for steel bar products for housing construction.
