Shanxi Province to shut down 4.3-meter coke oven by end of 2023

China’s Shanxi Province will fully shut down a 4.3-meter coke oven by the end of 2023, while coking enterprises in Shanxi will fully achieve the dry quenching of coke amid the improvement and upgrading of the coking industry, as announced by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shanxi Province.

Shanxi Province is the largest coke production base in China. In 2022, China’s coke output amounted to 473 million units, while the coke output of Shanxi in the same year totaled around 98 million mt, accounting for 20 percent of the total output in China.
