The Serbian Ministry of Finance has extended to June 11 the deadline for the tender to sell the Zelezara Smederevo steel mill, formerly owned by US Steel, "at the request of participants". The previous deadline for receipt of bids was May 4.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, bids have already been received from Ukraine-based Donetskstal Group, Luxembourg-based United Pilsen and Russian company Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. The Serbian government bought the steelmaking complex from US Steel in late January for a symbolic one US dollar.
