The Port of Long Beach, California reported Wednesday that container trade volume at the port fell in September compared to the same month last year. Imports were down 8.9 percent and exports declined 4.7 percent.
Twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) handled at the port totaled 527,175 in September, down from 574,790 TEUs in September 2010. Overall, September container traffic was down 8.3 percent year-on-year. Trade volumes have declined for a fourth straight month at the port.
Calendar year to date through September, imports are up 0.4 percent and exports are up 1.8 percent.
