Robe River increases iron ore output to 50.5 million tons

Robe River Iron Associates is reportedly increasing iron ore output to 50.5 million tons in 2005 from 44 million tons in 2004. Following the completion of its current expansion project which is expected to be completed in early 2005, the company's West Angelas mine's output will increase to 22.5 miilion tons in 2005 from approximately 20 million tons in 2004. Robe River Iron Associates is an international joint venture owned 53% by Anglo-Australian Rio Tinto, 33% by Japanese trading company Mitsui & Co., 10.5% by Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel and 3.5% by Japanese steel producer Sumitomo Metal Industries.
