The verdict in the trial of the four Shanghai-based employees of the Australian mining giant Rio Tinto, which opened on March 22, will be delivered on March 29, a Rio Tinto press release has said.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the charges against the employees, who have been detained since July 5, 2009, relate to receiving bribes and stealing commercial secrets. Following the first day of the trial, the Australian consul-general in Shanghai, Tom Connor, was quoted as saying on March 23 that the employees had confirmed the truth of some of the alleged bribe amounts.
