Rhino Resource Partners halts coal production following fatal accident

Lexington, Kentucky-based Rhino Resource Partners, which focuses on the mining both steam and metallurgical coal, reported Monday that Joseph Michael Cassell died Monday near Rhino Eastern LLC's joint venture mining complex near Bolt, West Virginia. According to a press release, the accident was due to an apparent rib fall.

The Eagle Number 1 mine, where the accident occurred, has been temporarily idled while an investigation into the accident takes place.
