South Korean steel goliath POSCO is the only steelmaker worldwide that has received overall good evaluations for 2010 from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent non-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information.

According to POSCO statement, the CDP committee selected 51 and 48 companies respectively for the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index 2010 and Carbon Performance Leadership Index 2010 amongst 2,500 leading companies worldwide. POSCO was selected in both categories while the only other Korean company included was Samsung Electronics.

POSCO said that it promotes environmental management as one of its three major management principles, adding that it was selected for transparently disclosing detailed information to all stakeholders while continuously releasing carbon reports and sustainability reports.
