MMK issues January production results

The Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has released its production results for the first month of 2008.

Accordingly, during the given period the mill recorded a 9.1 percent increase in its crude steel production to 1.22 million metric tons and a 9.6 percent rise in its finished steel production to 1.2 million metric tons.

However, MMK saw a 12.3 percent decrease in its agglomerate production, but a 7.2 percent increase in pig iron production and a nine percent increase in its coke output. The respective figures in metric tons were 932,800, 874,500 and 496,500.

In the first month of 2008, MMK saw a reduction in the share of exports in its overall sales to 42.1 percent.
