The new plant is planned to be constructed within three to four years at the premises of Mechel's chrome ore deposit Voskhod (project of Oriel Resources), located in Kazakhstan's Aktubinsk region. The new plant is expected to produce 240,000-250,000 mt of ferroalloys a year. The investment in the project is estimated at the level of $500-800 million.

Currently, Mechel is starting development of the deposit in question, with mining of chrome ore expected to be commenced by the end of this year.
