Liaoning's steel products exports drop in July

In July 2005, northeast China's Liaoning province saw a month-on-month decrease in its steel exports. Steel products exports of the main steelmakers in the province reached 226'400 tons with a combined trade value of $111.59 million in July. These numbers represent month-on-month declines of 95'300 tons and $71.76 million. For the first seven months of the year, Liaoning's steel products exports reached 2.8 million tons, up 1.5 million tons year on year. Total trade value of the exports reached $1.47 billion, up $860 million year on year. Among the main steelmakers, the trade value of steel exports by Anshan Steel more than doubled that of the first seven months of 2004, reaching $715 million through July of this year. Benxi Steel and Beitai Steel both more than tripled their numbers from the first seven months of 2004. Benxi Steel notched $305 million in exports through July of this year, while Beitai Steel recorded exports totaling $312 million.
