Six industrial units in Goa have been hit by the latest order of the government of the Indian state of Karnataka banning transportation of iron ore from Goa.
Chairman of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Manguirish Pai Raikar, reported that 46 trucks carrying iron ore were stopped at the Karnataka border.
Mr. Raikar said that he took up the matter with Karwar district commissioner B N Krishnaiyya, and that the trucks had been released. He also stated that on June 22, together with representatives from the six affected units, he will meet Goa government officials to ask them to discuss the issue with their Karnataka counterparts.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, in August last year Karnataka state government lifted the ban on heavy vehicles carrying iron ore from entering district highways.
