JFE to hike prices of its plates for export

According to recent news in the market, Japanese steel producer JFE Steel is considering a price hike of it steel plates for export to be in effect in fiscal 2004. The planned price is at the level of $450/mt FOB per tonne, as for the time being. First increase is planned to be effected on the exports of subject product to Korea, and later on for the material exported to China. The price increase that is going to be effected is attributed to the expected hikes in the cost of steel materials and freight rates in fiscal 2004.
