According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in July decreased by 69 percent on tonnage basis compared to June and were up 158.7 percent year on year to 25 ships, down from 98 ships recorded in June, totaling 1.45 million gross tons, consisting of 15 bulk carriers. In July 2014, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled nine ships amounting to 559,670 gross tons.
In the first seven months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 218 ships with an aggregate of 12.28 million gross tons, increasing by 9.9 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in July Japan delivered 40 ships for export, totaling 1.46 million gross tons, increasing from 20 ships totaling 772,173 gross tons recorded in June. In July 2014, Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 27 ships with 1.02 million gross tons. Meanwhile, in the first seven months of the current year, Japan delivered 196 ships for export, totaling 7.76 million gross tons, increasing by five percent year on year.
