According to the data released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the country's industrial production in September rose by 1.4 percent month on month, showing an increase for the seventh consecutive month. Meanwhile, a drop of 18.9 percent was registered compared to September 2008.
The industries that mainly contributed to the increase are transport equipment, electronic parts and devices, and electrical machinery, while the commodities that mainly contributed to the increase included large passenger cars, chassis and body parts, and small passenger cars.
Japan's industrial shipments in September increased by 3.4 percent over August, showing an increase for the seventh consecutive month, but down 17.3 percent year on year. Meanwhile, inventory in September decreased by a small margin of 0.5 percent compared to the previous month, showing a decrease for the first time in two months, and down 12.2 percent compared to September 2008.
On the other hand, according to a survey of production forecasts in Japan's manufacturing sector, production is expected to increase by 3.1 percent in October and to rise by 1.9 percent in November, on a month-on month basis.
