Osaka, Japan was affected by a 5.9-6.1 magnitude earthquake on June 18. While steel mill facilities and large producers in the region are not reporting damages, some stoppage has been reported either due to safety reviews at facilities or reviews of main gas, power and water lines.

Additionally, transportation disruptions as well as employees organizing all personal matters may delay full production at some sites until the end of the week according to some reports. Additionally, production facilities are ensuring that raw material inventories and incoming material arrivals can support production plans. Local government sources say they expect minimal interruptions in business.

Steel related companies with plants or logistics facilities in the region include Nippon Steel (NSSMC), JFE Steel, Kobe Steel, Kyoei Steel, Osaka Steel, Daihatsu Motor, Nisshin Steel, and Seah Steel.
