Italy’s industrial production up 4.3 percent in August over July

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in August the seasonally adjusted index of the Italian industrial production rose by 4.3 percent compared to July, but the increase reached 4.7 percent compared to August 2010 when we consider the data adjusted for calendar effects.

In the first eight months of 2011, however, the index increased by 1.7 percent compared to January-August 2010.

In August 2011, the indexes corrected for calendar effects registered a significant year-on-year growth for intermediate goods (+8.3 percent) and capital goods (+6.9 percent). Energy production increased significantly (+3.5 percent), while consumer goods production grew modestly (+0.6 percent), both on year-on-year basis.
