According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in February this year Italian industry increased its turnover by 1.5 percent month on month and by 12.8 percent year on year.
Compared to February 2010, the strongest performances in February this year were for the metals and metals manufacturing industry (+30.7 percent) and for electrical equipment (+25.5 percent).
In the same period, and on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index rose 2.8 percent in the energy sector, two percent for capital goods, 1.6 percent for intermediate goods and 0.7 percent for consumer goods. Among consumer goods, durable goods increased by 4.5 percent, while the turnover index for non-durable goods was unchanged.
With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in February there was a month-on-month increase of 1.9 percent and a year-on-year increase of 16.2 percent.
