Italian industry turnover down 5.4 percent in Sept from Aug

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in September this year Italian industry's turnover decreased by 5.4 percent month on month and by 19 percent year on year.

In September, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy increased 0.7 percent in the energy sector, but decreased 10.4 percent for durable goods, 6.4 percent for intermediate goods and 1.5 percent for consumer goods.

Compared to September 2010, the strongest performances in Italian industry in September this year were observed in coke and oil refinery production, up 12.9 percent.

With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in September this year there was a month-on-month decrease of 8.3 percent and a year-on-year decrease of 3.6 percent. Compared to September 2010, the strongest decreases were observed in computers and electronic products production (down 28.5 percent) and in transport production (down 15.8 percent).
