Italian February crude steel output up 15 percent over January

According to the statistics released by Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, in February this year Italy's crude steel output totaled 2.16 million metric tons, increasing by 28.5 percent year on year and up 15.35 percent compared to January.
 
Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year, the country's crude steel production stood at 4.04 million metric tons, rising by 22.9 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
Federacciai has also released the long and flat steel output data for January 2010.
 
Accordingly, in January this year, Italy's long steel output declined by 4.2 percent year on year, reaching 853,000 metric tons, while a month-on-month increase of 35.18 percent was witnessed.
 
On the other hand, in January the country's flat steel output reached its highest monthly level since November 2008, totaling 985,000 metric tons, up 26.1 percent year on year and up 11.43 percent month on month.
