Iran imposes 30 percent export duty on scrap

In addition to the 30 percent customs duty imposed on exports of semi-finished steel products (billets, blooms, slabs) from Iran at the beginning of last month, the Iranian government has now also decided to impose a customs duty of the same amount on exports of scrap.

The high demand for scrap in the local market against the background of increasing scrap exports in recent years has encouraged the Iranian government to impose the duty in question.
